The Dreamstress

As a little girl, I was taught to sew by my grandmother. At the time, I had absolutely zero interest—I would sit through her sewing classes just wanting to break free and play. Over time, though, I started creating unique garments for myself and would constantly receive compliments.

In 2014, I had a lightbulb moment: I decided to start sewing for others. For an upcoming event, I gathered my closest girlfriends to be my very first models. The dresses made it through the night and didn’t look half bad! Shortly after, I promised my little cousin I’d make her prom dress—and she sent me 17 more girls. That became my very first (unofficial) prom season, and I shocked myself with how far my creativity and skills could take me.

“She get it from her mama”—my late mother was a fashion designer, and my grandmother a master seamstress. From that moment, it was a wrap: You dream it, I create it!
